| In the beginning of April frame
Nr.1 was constructed on the pontoon, after the parts had been
made to measure and treated for wood rot in the frames shop.
Because work had to be done at the side which it was lying on,
the whole should be turned. And since it would be hanging in
the ropes we took the opportunity to check out hou it looked
wirh the rest of the frames on the keel. |

| The space between the frame and the
keel has yet to be filled by the gripe (the foreward knee) and
the deadwood. The curved wood on the picture on the right was
ment for the gripe but unfortunately a branche which grew out
of the tree, the black spot on the phorograph, left a weak space
so it cannot be used. Our shipwrights found and purchased a
new suitable tree in Germany. |

making of Frame Nr.½ , one of the showcases with 18th
Century artefacts and an octant. It is an exact replica of this
navigation device which preceded the sextant, made by one of
our tour guides, Joop van Lijf. See also www.nmm.ac.uk/ |
