The Captain of the Frigate 'Shtandart', Capt. Vladimir Martous
and his crew kindly agreed to keep a 'ships log' on this web page.
On a regular basis he will keep us informed about what he and
his crew encounter on their journey from the ship's home port of
St. Petersburg, Russia, to our shipyard in Rotterdam.

By means of this log, anyone who is interested in the ups and downs of the 'Shtandart' and her visit to Shipyard 'De Delft' can monitor the proceedings of the voyage and share their adventures. By the time the crew arrives at our shipyard it will feel like we are welcoming close friends.

Shipyard 'De Delft' is ready to welcome 'Shtandart' in Rotterdam


Dear Captain and Crew,

On behalf of the volunteers of 'De Delft', I would like to wish 'Shtandart' a good journey from Denmark to Rotterdam. We are all looking forward to your arrival on 13th July at our Shipyard and have the opportunity to spend some days with all of you. Don't be surprised to be challenged for some action too!

Thursday, February 23rd

Hello from Russia!


In St. Petersburg preparations are in full swing for the Shtandart's
voyage to Holland this summer.

Time sure goes by fast! However, we've already done a lot: the cultural
program in Rotterdam keeps getting more attractive, letters have been
sent to the Russian Embassy and to many Dutch companies, and the entire
crew gleefully attended a New Year masquerade ball in medieval
costumes.

At the present time we are searching for companies which are interested
in arranging a sailing cruise for their employees on an historical
frigate.

We are also enthusiastically reading lots of articles about Holland,
practicing historic dances, slowly learning the Dutch language and
acquainting ourselves with the lives and culture of the local people -
simply trying to immerse ourselves in the spirit of the Orange country,
while getting ready to acquaint you with Russia!

Monday, December 5th

To start with...


This is great to have an opportunity to share what is going on at Shtandart.
We do have plans for nice and exciting sailing trip on coming summer.
The visit to Rotterdam, to our colleagues - De Delft - is one of highlights of entire voyage.

We started on preparing the wisit a while ago. As for volunteer project it took us some time to find interested (and knowlegable) volunteers to take care of all arrangements. Now they are taking an active role in preparations.
